I'm not sure about the quality since I don't play them, but the number of localizations sure seems to be increasing. It's good news. Sure, most of the games I play are ones that were practically guaranteed to be localized, but having 10 out of 11 localized or confirmed for localization is pretty good. In fact, the only one not announced for localization at this moment, Luminous Arc Infinity, is the one I rated the lowest out of all the games I've reviewed so far! Also, I didn't review it because I dropped it, but Exist Archive also doesn't seem to be announced for localization yet, but I honestly was horribly disappointed by it and I don't think people are missing much by it not coming over (yet, anyway).
I guess I could organize the games into tiers of how surprised I was by their localization announcement.
Fire Emblem Fates, Atelier Sophie, Disgaea 5, I Am Setsuna, Neptunia VII, Star Ocean 5
Everyone knew these games were coming over, I don't think there was ever any doubt!
Not That Surprising:
Stella Glow, Nights of Azure
These ones weren't guaranteed, but also weren't that surprising to see.
Trillion: God of Destruction
Given the content and the type of game, I wasn't sure if this one would make it over or not.
7th Dragon III Code:VFD
This one caught me by complete surprise. It's Sega. The previous entries don't have an official translation (although I know there are fan translations for the first two). Lots of popular JP voice actors, which seems to sometimes cause licensing issues. Major props to Sega for arranging bringing this one over.
What do you all think?
If you know Japanese well enough to play games, what are some you were happy to be able to play?
If you don't, is there anything that you really want brought over that doesn't seem to be coming over? What do you like and dislike in your localizations?
For my part, if I'm being honest with myself, the two games I was happiest to be able to play in the last couple years are Ciel nosurge and Fate/Extra CCC.
